Charities
Princess Diana helped with many charities. She helped with charities for homelessness, drug abuse, aids, leprosariums and so much more. "In 1990, People noted, Diana was the patron of 44 charities, making more than 180 visits on their behalf the previous year. "I don't just want to be a name on a letterhead," the princess was quoted as saying in the Saturday Evening Post .''(Newsmakers. Detroit: Gale, 1997. From Student Resources in Context.) A specific time was when she went to a home called 'Grandma's House', a place where abandoned and abused children live. She spent time with AIDS victims a problem she feels strongly about. The day before she talked with Mrs. Bush about AIDS and 'Grandma's House'. Another subject Princess Diana felt strongly about was homelessness. One time she had brought her two sons to see homeless people. Princess Diana cared greatly for all the people she visited and she connected with each and every one of them. Princess Diana not only visited victims to various problems but also had raised more than $2 million dollars for AIDS and cancer research from an auction for 65 of her gowns.
